Montana 1st Credit Union will NEVER ask for personal information via email, text message, or phone call. If you receive a request that asks you for your account number, card number, PIN, or your full social security number, please DO NOT respond to it or click on any links within it. Phone
While Montana 1st may use automatic messaging services to contact our membership from time to time, we will NEVER ask for account information over the phone. If suspicious activity is suspected on your account, you may be contacted by a representative of Montana 1st. These representatives may ask you for your Montana 1st password, or the last four digits of your Social Security number to verify your identity. If you receive a live call or automated call that asks you to return the call with personal financial information, the call is most likely fraud. If you ever suspect fraud end the conversation and call us directly at a number that you know is accurate. Montana 1st's main line is 406.728.1790.
Montana 1st Credit Union is aware of phishing emails that are circulating. These emails appear to be from our credit union, but are instead fraudulent attempts to collect your personal financial information. You should not respond to these emails! Instead, please forward a copy to mtfirst@mtfirst.com. If you did respond to an email, contact the financial institution that holds the account or card information that may have been compromised for assistance. Best practices to keep you and your information safe, include:
- NEVER respond to an unsolicited e-mail that asks for personal financial information.
- Stop. Resist the urge to immediately respond to a suspicious email, despite claims of urgency.
- Look. Read the text of the email several times and ask yourself, why the request would be needed by your financial institution.
- Call. Telephone the organization identified using a number that you know to be legitimate. For Montana 1st that number is 406.728.1790.
- Report anything suspicious to the proper authorties.
- Report phishing email to the FBI at: www.ifccfbi.gov
Text Messages
Montana 1st Credit Union knows that criminals are willing to do anything to get your personal information. With that in mind, Montana 1st will NEVER request information from our members via text messaging. Any text stating that it is from Montana 1st is fraudulent. Please do not respond to these text messages, but rather notify Montana 1st right away by calling 406.728.1790 or email us at mtfirst@mtfirst.com as soon as possible.
